(text in Spanish below)
Before getting into fashion photography I really wanted to shoot music portraits. I've always loved music but I'm not very good at actually playing (after eight years of piano lessons all I can remember is Yesterday by The Beatles). I do feel it's intricately related to fashion, so I guess it does make sense that I've ended up doing both.
So when TENMAG called me up to shoot Marques Toliver for their may issue I was kind of excited (after looking him up on YouTube, I mean). Marques is, aside from extremely fun, an extremely talented violinist and singer who's been touring round Europe opening for Beach House
Go check out his first single, White Sails (you won't regret it).
Ph. Pablo Curto / Md. Marques Toliver

ABOUT LIFE AND LEONARD COHEN.
(text in Spanish below)
I've been wanting to write about this quote by Leonard Cohen for a while. I guess Lana del Rey's new video, covering Chelsea Hotel No. 2, is a good enough reason. Not that I'm comparing.
It's times like these when I wish I could actually write. I mean, yes, I run this blog and I try to be witty, throw in some literary references here and there, but I've never been much of a writer. Not to the point where I'm comfortable expressing emotions, that's for sure.
Anyways, with all that's going on here in Spain, it's disheartening, sometimes, to deal with the very-generalised total lack of motivation. I understand there is a very crappy social and economic climate behind this, but still, life is short. Going all ostrich and sticking your head in the ground while waiting for things to get better won't get us anywhere. Cohen said it before (and much better).
Have a great weekend, everyone.

On a different note, just in case you haven't watched it, please take eleven minutes of your time and watch the speech he gave during the Príncipe de Asturias awards in Spain. Knowing that, even in the distance, his work has a root back here makes me feel proud, for once, of the place I grew up in. It's a rare feeling, nowadays."This is a broken world and we live with broken hearts and broken lives but still that is no alibi for anything. On the contrary, you have to stand up and say hallelujah under those circumstances."
- Leonard Cohen
Have a great weekend, everyone.
